It is not particularly wind-resistant and prefers protection from strong coastal winds.

Philodendron selloum is sensitive to frost and should be placed in a sheltered position or covered during cold snaps.

Though it does produce flowers, they are not its main ornamental feature.

This plant is best suited to subtropical-style gardens, courtyards, and areas where a dramatic green presence is desired.
