Rough Australian Tree Fern

A stunning, fast-growing tree fern, Cyathea australis adds a lush, tropical feel to any garden. 

It thrives in moist, well-drained soil and prefers a shady, sheltered environment, making it perfect for forest-like settings in the Western Cape.

It is not wind-resistant and should be planted in protected locations. This fern is moderately frost-tolerant but will need some protection during severe cold spells.

It does not handle harsh coastal conditions well but can grow in coastal gardens if given shelter from strong winds.

While it does not produce traditional flowers, its large, arching fronds create a dramatic and elegant display.

Ideal for shade gardens, courtyards, and damp, sheltered spaces.
